Behavior & Emotion Controlling - Shirley's 259th Friendly Greeting, June 20, 2010

How are you? Are you enjoying your weekend?

This week there are only 2 business days because of the Duanwu Festival.

In the company, except the normal business jobs, we are researching our company's strategy around the business model, talent strategy, company system and information system and so on… I do enjoy these topics and I am studying and thinking on them.

I am lucky enough that I have gotten so much help from the doctors, bosses, colleagues and friends. After having a long time sleep for about 3 weeks ? every day for 10 to 16 hours, doing 11 kinds of exercises each days that were created by Lao Zi and Yi Jing, took some of the natural factor -- Bee Propolis, Natural Neptunus Beta Carotene, and drank 1 bottle of vinegar + ice water ? I do not know why, just I wanted to drink it. Thursday morning, I came back to the company to work with a clear mind and a good heart and easy foot after the Duanwu Festival.

Can you imagine? During the 3 days’ festival + 2 days’ weekend, almost every day, I had slept for more than 12 hours. Did not rely on any medicine, I just wanted to sleep and could get sleepy as soon as I went to sleep.  Because before I started my traveling to the US on April 28, I was so sleepy, I often thought that I could sleep anywhere, even though on the street. : -)

Now, the good news is that my biological clock has changed normal ? I have woken up at 6:15am to 6:25am automatically for about 5 days. My stomachache has gone, my hands seem like are not too big as I felt before. The ache on the joints is not so much. The best feeling is that my eyes are not pain when I wash face or see things on the computer. Even though I cannot see clear yet, my work time on the computer has be changed for 5 or 6 hours from 1 or 2 hours each day…

I do cherish the good result of the rest and health management. Therefore, I am controlling my work and learning time and I do not dear to work according to my own willing until the midnight or early morning again. Except the daily exercise, I have also bought a new exercise machine for myself. It is shame that since last Oct I came back from the US first time, I had just running once, and my original exercise machine has rest for too long time to work. There are certainly the reasons of my mother was sick and dead, I myself was sick and had surgeries, completed 6 working papers before April, created new paintings for the art exhibition in May… the main reason was that I had forgotten that my own health need to be managed, too. 

So, I would like to remember the big lesson and try to do my best to recover my health.

Except behavior controlling, I have another feeling this week ? emotion control may be one of the important hands of health management. : -)

-- Thursday afternoon, a friend called me suddenly and told me that he was robbed in Shenzhen so that he needed to get some food as his supper during he was waiting for the bank to deal with his lost. After finding two man colleagues to buy, to send food to the hotel with me together, being in the hurry, worrying and angry, my eyes could see unclear much more, then, I had to take some painkillers to control my headache.

So, I am thinking that may be the healthy management is just the process of behavior and emotions controlling?

With the same idea, I feel, “Control” may be one of the most important methods in a company’s management, with rules and regulations to control a business’ process, organization style, human resource and everything else is certainly very important, at the same time, we have to pay more attention to “Manage” employees’ emotion, then we can really keep a company to keep its continuous vitality and develop healthily.

So, create some positive corporate culture to help employees to work with good emotion, may be another duty of a manager?
