Haste Makes Waste :-) - Shirley's 278th Friendly Greeting, Oct 24, 2010

How are you? Have you had a good weekend?

On the 8th day of my surgery, I left from the Shenzhen 4th People's Hospital earlier than the schedule for I had to see Dr. Yu Liu who is charge of the treatment of my backbone and joints in Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital at the appointment time.

Knowing it isn’t easy to get a register in Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital, Dr. Deng Hongtiang & Dr. Zhang checked my wound, offered medicine, asked me to go back to change the fresh dressing, and dealt with my case as early as possible. By the kind help of them, I “caught” Dr. Liu in time. :-)

From now, in another 2 weeks, I will have the last surgery by one of my best friends Dr. Qiujuan Zhang, to remove the sick part that caused my first biopsy and to stop the risk of the cancer. Until then, my health problems will be focused on my backbone and joints. As soon as they are controlled, my vision will be recovered naturally. :- )

The latter will be a slow and long-term process, it will be counted by years; however, they will no any danger deadly. Therefore, I am confident with my doctors and my own patience. I am sure that I will win and to work with the disease together. :-) I mean that I will never stay at the point as a pure patient, I will go forward to be in the pursuit of my dreams while to fight with my sickness. Certainly, I am going to study in China Central Academy of Fine Artin the near future. I will continue to work on my dream of inter-art and cross-culture exchange by the continuously learning, creating and international travels. :-) I will also certainly become an artist of painting, music, language and management by the effort for whole of my rest of life.

Do you believe it? :- )

Anyway, when I an writing here, I cannot help smiling. For I have thought of so many lessons. One of them is that I should not in a hurry; I should remember a Chinese idiom “Yu Su Ze Bu Da -- Haste Makes Waste.”

-- To spend a short time on finding and healing the “ small” health problems of a person or a company, is maybe a smart way to prevent the big or serious problems and to insure an individual and an organization to be developed healthily and continuously.

It is a shame that I have lived in the hospitals 5 times in the passed 18 years, the last 4 times happened in the recent 10 months and the last 3 times were just in the short 74 days. :-) Why? I did not want to see a doctor and heal the small health problems in time so that they were developed to be some big problems.

In March, 1997, I was charge of the work to found the first web site of the newspaper office by the helping and direction of the experts of People's Daily from Beijing while to work on my daily pages and work. I had a cold, but, I did not pay any attention to it. Still, with the small healthy problem, I flew to Beijing 4 times in April and I worked from 7:30am to 10:30pm each day, then, I went to the Shenzhen Futian People’s Hospital -- today's Shenzhen 4th People's Hospital to have a vein injection in the nights. I thought that I was so healthy and I would not have any serious health problem. Then in May, 1997, the web site started to work, my cold changed to be pneumonia. :-)

Right now, my current health problem is also because I was too confident with my own health, so that I left from the Shenzhen 1st People’s Hospital near the Christmas Day, 2009, when my Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) was 109 (the normal is 0-20). I just wanted to work in the New Year’s Holiday and to hand in my work papers to the company in the first business day of 2010 since I just came back from USA, since my mother’s cancer and passed away had delayed my work for a while. I was in a hurry for I felt sorry to the company. I did not realize that a serious healthy problem was coming to me and attaching me since I was so healthy and I did not feel anything wrong on my backbone, joints and vision at that time. :- )

The psychology and emotion of haste has hurt my-itself. The price of quickness for a short time is the long time’s slowness. “Yu Su Ze Bu Da -- Haste Makes Waste” is just speaking the situation that I have experienced now. : -)

So, I am thinking that a person’s health management may be similar the risk management of a company. If we did not want to pay more attention to those little problems and if we did not want to spend our cherish time to heal or resolve them in time, they would certainly develop to be something serious and to threaten the health development of an individual and an organization.

Sometimes, to slow down our steps, to think, to find, to manage and to heal our small health or risk problems, may be a smart way to insure us to go forward further, continuously and quickly.

How do you think of my idea? Do you agree with me?

I am just a student on Art of Painting, Music, English and Management, to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do a few things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be an Electronic Bridge of Inter-Art & Cross - Culture Exchange, Chinese Language Learning & Friendship. To help the others while to improve myself.

I would like to appreciate you for your understanding, directions, supports and help.
