To be honest, I did not realize that Dr. David P. Manuel and his wife Mrs. Manuel would come to the classroom that I worked in, so that I did not prepare anything for the good meeting, except I worked for about whole of the night and painted two little paintings, and carried 2 books, 2 DVDs and 2 albums of my paintings for the organizers from the Southwest District Art Teachers Association and from Drury University as my little heart to thank them for they had offered a so good opportunity for me to share Chinese arts with the local American art teachers.
So, when Dr. David P. Manuel and Mrs. Manuel came into the classroom, I felt so happy and so surprised, so that I did not know what I should talk with them indeed.
Anyway, with so many appreciations to Drury University and to both of them to come to see me and my art works, I asked my classmate Mr. Zhu Bin picked down one of my Chinese Baimiao Paintings from the wall, which I painted in China Central Academy of Fine Arts in Dec, 2010 and sent them as a memory.
Even though I do not think it is my best painting, I do think that Chinese painting is an art of lines and an art of comprehension. Also, via the activity that both of them came to see me – a common Chinese art student and listened to me carefully, talked with me with so kind and so friendly style.
Especially, via the questions they asked me, I do feel that they are someone who really understand the value in my long-term study, research and creation via translating, painting, writing music and articles, singing in Chinese and in English, making DVDs and updating the web sites…
I do hope the little painting can bring both of Dr. David P. Manuel and Mrs. Manuel some big smiles when they look at it. :-)
