This is my 5th pen sketch - painting from the nature at Chinese National Academy of Arts in Beijing since March 25, and be done April 1 - April 4, 2014
When I was painting on the Yulan Magnolia, I paid attention to a small yellow flower by the gate of a Museum of Horizontal Inscribed Board, that I had not met before. So, I decided to paint it after finishing painting the Yulan Magnolia.
Then I went to paint it since April 1. It was really too small so that I did not know where I should start. But, the more I paint, the more I enjoyed painting it, for I found in its small body, there are the same beautiful colors and structures as those big flowers, besides, as a kind of Chinese traditional medicine - Yin Qiao, it can helps people's health.
That made me think of those small potatoes in the human society, they do not so important as those big flowers and those big people, they are contributing their pygmy effort with their small bodies, to beatify this world as well. Just like the workers who are working day and night by the roads, to offer us a circumstance better and better -- after working for 2 years, now the circumstance of the school finally has changed as similar as the true Beijing and since the day before yesterday, I have not needed to go on a part of the muddy road again finally. Therefore, in my mind and heart, each small thing in the nature and every small potato in the human society should get respected indeed.
During I painted this painting, I went to the small flowers 7 times in the windy and sunny weather. Sometimes, I felt so much dust on my face, month and pockets, sometimes, the too strong sunshine made my eyes uncomfortable so that I had to worked by one hand for I had to hold an umbrella.
Anyway, this painting got a good comments from almost all of my classmates and tutors who have seen it. Also, they pointed out the weakness on it. I will pay more attention to it in my future work.
How do you think of this painting? Do you enjoy it?
