This story names 仲由百里负: Zhong You Carried Rice for His Parents from 100 Miles Away
Zhong You was from Lu (in today’s Shangdong Province). He was one of the best students of Confucius. His nature was brave and straightforward and he was very filial son.
In his early years, his family was very poor, he had to pick up the edible wild herbs to cook for himself, but, he carried rice back home for his parents from 100 miles away . After his parents was dead, he became a high rank officer, when he was ordered to go to Chu State, about 100 carriages and 1000 kettles of food followed him.
Very often, when he was sitting on the brocade cotton-padded mattress and eating the sumptuous banquet, he could not help sighing with the sad feeling that missed his parents: Even though I wanted to eat the edible wild herbs and to carry rice for my parents again, it was impossible right now.
Confucius admired him:“ You looked after your parents, could be said that you had done your best when they were alive and you miss them after they passed away ”
