This is my 1553 Chinese painting since 2003,the 905thChinese Xieyi Painting and the 21st creation in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, after finishing my study face to face in the 3rd art college in Beijing, Nov 1, 2021.
In the past one year, except looking after my father, I have spent a lot of time on Chinese calligraphy and Gongbi Painting; however Chinese Xieyi painting is still my favorite because of its freedom.
So, during I was hospitalized in Sept, I thought a lot.
Since my supervisor has been criticizing and against me to write my English translations of the poems on my paintings (I guess his idea may represent the ideas of some people in Chinese art circle), I don’t think I can develop my cross-cultural and comprehensive art dream in China, and the Covid-19 is still blocking me to go back to the classrooms in the USA, I am thinking to create my new pictures with 2 visions. One is a pure traditional Chinese style, another still keeps my own way with both Chinese poem and English translation, since the latter has been accepted by my American students, and my target users are native English speakers and people who speak English.
So, with a lot of reading and thoughts in the hospital, many new pictures with Chinese poetry jumped into my mind, and they have stimulated my enthusiasm for creation. This is the first pure Chinese style painting that I created to match one of Chinese poems.
Anyway, since I haven’t written its English translation on it yet and I would really like to explain its meaning for you latter, when I created the other one with English.
As a foreigner, would you like to see a picture with only Chinese on it or you wish to see both English and Chinese and understand its meaning directly?
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, welcome to write to me shirley@ebridge.cn. :-) I would really like to get it with a big smile.
