This is my 551st
Chinese Xieyi Painting and
my 1022nd painting since 2003, the 390th assignment of Chinese National Academy of Arts.
Also, it is the 77th picture I painted in my daily practice since June 6, 2015.
Even though I had painted many bamboos since I started to paint Chinese Painting, before 2012, I had often painted no matter a bamboo or a grass with a very sharp style.
One day, Dr. Cao Jianhua came to give us a class. I asked him to comment my painting. He told me that Chinese culture advocates " Zhong Yong -- Middle of the Road " , therefore, we should not paint or express something with a too sharp style. To paint a Chinese painting is in fact the process to is just to cultivate one's mind...
Since there, I started to pay more attention to both of my painting and my thinking and speaking styles... never do anything with a too sharp or too extreme style...
So, when I painted the third time of this painting, you can see the leavs of the bamboo are not too sharp as well. :-)
How do you think of the two paintings? Which one looks better in your opinions?
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, welcome to write to shirley@ebridge.cn,you can also publish your opinions on Message Board . :-)
