Peach blossoms are some lucky flowers in Chinese culture. When someone is commented "has a luck of peach blossoms", that means that he will have a lucky marrige or he is loved by someone, or just have a good luck.
"Luck of Peach Blossoms" is from a story in Tang Dynasty (618 - 907).
-- A gentlman named Cui Hu, went to have a walk in the countryside on Qingming Festival, he met a girl in the peach forest and he asked a cup of water from her. Then he went away, but, he could not forget the girl so that he came back the peach forest and wanted to see the girl on the same day next year. But, it was said that the girl had been dead for missing. He was so sad for the bad news. Their story touched the God, then, he made the girl relive and help them to be wife and husband... :-)
The poem below is just said to be written by Cui Hu on the wall of the girl's house.
I read this poem many years ago and in July 30, 2006, when I read it once more, I was very touched by it so that I wrote a piece of music for the poem within 20 minutes. :-)
But then, I had no an idea to create a painting to match it yet.
This week, after I came back from one department of the hospital and made a new appointment to exclude cancer on one part of my body in the other department. Finally, I had some time for free, when I looked at the lovely birds of mine, I had an idea to create a painting for this poem. :-)
Even though many places of my body were aching, I did not want to give up, after taking some of painkillers once more, I completed my new paintings with a big smile.
My heart is singing right now. :-)
I am not sure what will happen to me. But, as long as I can, I am going to keep creating with the bright colors, to bring my own confidence to fight with the sickness, meanwhile I hope to bring you some enjoyment of Chinese art works.
MAIN MEANING OF THE PEOM :
Last year’s today in the same gate,
a girl’s face and flowers reflected the red.
No one knows where the girl is right now,
the peach blossoms are still smiling in the spring breeze.
