This is my 98th Gouache painting. Instead of working on this kind of painting, I have been working on
Chinese Gongbei (Realistic Painting) painting and
Chinese Xieyi (Freehand Brushworks) painting since Sep middle. So, when I was working on this little and simple picture, I did have some new feelings. Since I re-started to learn art 3 years ago, I have been exploring my own road to create my own style via combine Chinese painting style and Western painting style together. So, in this little picture, I tried to paint the bird with Chinese Gongbei style ? to color the feather with a very thin brush, from surface, it sounds like just one brush, but, it was colored by hundreds brushes in fact... Also, I colored the red leaves with Gouache way and the tree benches with Chinese Xieyi way... I am smiling for the enjoyment of playing colors and the process of the creative work. I do hope it can also bring you a smile... :-)
Notes: This painting was collected in the US in Christmas, 2005. (Shirley Noted It Feb 19, 2010)
