This is my 244th
Chinese Xieyi Painting and
my 450th painting since 2003.
Tuesday evening, I had my first lesson after I came back China.
My Chinese art teacher Mr. Tao not only brought 4 art books for me, and required me to read them according to the Syllabus of the Chinese Painting Department in the art colleges, but also, he prepared a teaching plan for me.
According to his plan, we reviewed and summarized the general steps to paint peonies and lotus. Instead of asking me to paint in the lesson time as I did in the past several years, he spoke and made demonstration whole of the time, I completed my assignment after lesson. Then we can save much more time for me, let my teacher speak and show me as much as possible.
Anyway, instead of working on the appointed homework to paint an appointed water lily, I re-created another painting.
I created
the original painting in my art lesson in July, 2007. I enjoyed this painting. I did not know why my teacher and Dr. Booth threw it out when we chose the paintings for my art exhibition. Until this week, I asked my teacher, then I knew where was the problem. So, I re-created it Thursday morning before I went to my office.
I had not created any new painting since Sep 4, 2009, I felt good when I re-started to create a painting. Even though I did not satisfy it yet, my heart was singing...
How do you think of the two pictures, which one is better?
