Shirley Created Music For Chinese Classical Poem -0054: Chun Yuan -- Sadness in the Spring

LISTEN TO THE TEXTLISTEN TO SHIRLEY PLAY & SING THE POEM

I am sure that most of people enjoy tho little yellow birds on the tree and their beautiful songs in the green leaves. Anyway, in the little Chinese classical poam Chun Yuan -- Sadness in the Spring by Tang Dynasty (A.D.618 -907) poet Jin Changxu, things are totally different. :-)

A young lady was driving the yellow birds from the tree, and did not want them to sing on the branch, because their songs had awaken up her from her sweet dream so that she could not see her husband or lover it her dream...

I do enjoy this little poem for its great ability to use the language, with just about 20 words, offers us an little interesting scene with sounds, character, birds, tree, and also some detail psychology activities of a young lady...

That is why, I quickly wrote a piece of music to match it and hope you enjoy it... :-)

I do hope that my poem comments, music and the language explanation will be a little bit help to you to know something more about Chinese culture and to improve your Chinese language level... :-)

Attaching a Translation By Hundred Flower Publish House:

A Spring Vexation

I hit an oriole with a piece of stone,
To stop its crying on a bough alone,
For its cries will awake me from my dream
That I can't travel to north frontier stream.
