Shirley Sung Chinese (Xinjiang) Folk Song--0030: Why Is the Flower so Red?

LISTEN TO SHIRLEY SINGING THE SONG

Since experiencing the embarrassed I had not prepared anything when my vocal music teacher entered into my door weeks ago, I have kept previewing something new for next Saturday evening as soon as I finish my lesson this weekend. I heard the new songs or music by the professional musicians and I often sing something when I was cooking, driving or painting... it not only helpes me to preview something before my teacher comes, helps me to remember and understand what I am singing, but also it is   making my life happier... :-)

After all, music and song is just something that should bring poeple think, smile and happiness. Do you think so?

Tonight, I learned a new Chinese Xinjiang folk song Why Is the Flower so Red is from the movie The Guests on the Ice Mountain that was published in 1963. This movie has written how an army fought with the bandits and the secret agents in Xinjiang at the first years that the the People's Republic of China was founded...

As the theme song of the movie, this song was sung three times in the movie.

First time on a wedding of a local young man and a beautiful girl who was in fact a secret agent who has a same face and same name as Gulan Danmu -- the girlfriend of a young army man Amier. Both of them were forced to leave from each other years ago, and now, the former local young boy has become a brave soldier in the army. The second time, Amier sung this song to test the "new bride" to see who she was and he found that she was not his Gulan Danmu but a secret agent. The last time, the true Gulan Danmu and Amier found and recognized the other via this song...

When I was learning and singing the song, my wind flied out of the window and went to the endless San Jiang plain by the frontier that I started my first life road, I saw so many colored flowers on the plain, I thought of so many young people -- my former classmates, my corps comrades and my first group of students... I suddenly understood the meaning of the song:

Why is the flower so red,
she is symbolizing the pure friendship and love...
Why the flower so vivid,
she is watered by the youthful blood...

A big progress in the lesson tonight is that I suddenly felt that I have known how to use my head cavity to help me to sing --I felt that my head was buzzing and it was just like a huge bellows, to help the air that was from my abdominal cavity and thorax to enter my head cavity and push my voice out so that my teacher was so excited and she shouted: "Good! Very Good! Finally, we have resolved the big problem for a long time -- how to use your head cavity..." :-)

MAIN MENAING OF THE SONGLISTEN TO SHIRLEY SINGING THE SONG:

Why Is the Flower so Red?

Why is the flower so red?
why is it so red?
Hey, hey, hey,
The red is just like the burny fire,
She is symbolizing the pure friendship and love...

Why is the flower so fresh?
why is it so vivid?
Hey, hey, hey,
The vivid makes people could not leave from it,
shi is watered by youthful blood...

Why is the flower so red?
why is it so red?
Hey, hey, hey,
The red is just like the burny fire,
she is symbolizing the pure friendship and love...
