LISTEN TO SHIRLEY SINGING THE SONG
Have you been to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau? It is the biggest plateau in China. It is the highest plateau in the World and be called the World Ridge. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is also the cradle land of the China's Mother River --Yellow River, a wonderful place for the tourists and explorers.
In the Chinese Spring Festival in 2003, 10 classmates (we had studies together for 2.5 years for our doctoral degrees) and me had a dinner party. Then, I had learned vocal music for about 3 or 4 months. First time, I sang a song for them. One classmate who just came back from a long distance travel Tibet by car asked me whether I could sing the song Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. That was the first time that I knew this song. And it is said that a famous woman musician who had been to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for years, after she saw that place and sang this song, she decided to be a nun there and never come back to the earthliness again...
I have not been to Qinghai-Tibet Plateau yet, but, I have been to the Snow Mountains in Lingjiang in Yunnan. When I was learning the song Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in my music lesson, the Snow Mountains were just in my mind.
Wow, that is a so beautiful place, I do feel that the people there are so peaceful, pure and be far away the earthliness. Especially when I was listening to the local ancient Naxi music that was played by about 50 old men who were all over 60 years old under the Snow Mountains, I did feel that my soul was cleaned, my heart was more peaceful... so, after I came back from my travel October, 2004, I have not missed one art or music lesson no matter how busy I was... Good music is really something can bring people quiet, peaceful and happiness, do you think so?
I learned to sing the song on Tuesday night for I wanted to work overtime on Saturday for my projects have entered the final time, many things are waiting for me to make the final judgments and I must finished them before October. However, today, when I came back from my office in the afternoon, my vocal music teacher called me and she wanted to offer me a lesson for she will have a travel next week...
My teacher did not think that I sang the first two sentences of the song good enough, so, tonight, when we re-recorded it, I invited her to sing the first two sentences for me. I do hope that you enjoy our works... :-)
MAIN MEANING OF THE SONGLISTEN TO SHIRLEY SINGING THE SONG鐚
Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
Ya la suo, ah,
Is it who to bring the calling from the far away ancient times? Is it who to leave the wishing for thousand years? Is there wordless song really? Or it is the sentimentally attached to the land? Ah... I have seen, the mountains one by one, All of them are connecting together, That is just the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Is it who to look to the blue sky day and night, Is it who to desire the dream forever, Is there really the laudatory song? Or it is the heavenliness that cannot be changed? Ah... I have seen the mountains one by one, All of them are connecting together, That is just the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
