This is a famous Chinese (Hebei) Folk Song, it writes a funny life segment -- in a bright summer morning, by a little river, under the poplar and willow, someone's new daughter -in- law is walking in a hurry. She is dressing in bright red clothes, attaches thick cosmetic on her face, wares a flower in her hair, carries a hen in her left hand, a duck in her right hand and a baby on her back... with a happy heart, she is going back to her own parents' home.
However, when she going through a mountain, a wind brings a dark cloud, then a heavy rain, she cannot find anywhere to hide herself so that her hen has flies away, her duck is running, her flower is down and her baby is crying...
With a embarrass heart, she says, Sigh! How can I go to see my mother this way?"
With a humorous language, beautiful music, this song describes a funny and interesting life snippet. :-)
I learned to sing this song first time July 1, 2006, then June 30, 2007 in my music lessons. Then, it was difficult for me to sing it in Chinese still, it is impossible to sing it in English at all. But today, in my new apartment in the US, I re-translated it and sang it in English and Chinese first time.
It is very difficult to match the lyrics to the fast rhythm of the music. So, I had to try and try, after working on it for about 9.5 hours, I did it. Even though I felt my tongue is hard to make the English clear with the too fast rhythm still. It is the first time I have completed it. :-)
I do hope that my effort will be some help of you to learn Chinese culture and language. Also, I wish you find that my English & singing skill have a little bit improvement.

THE MAIN MEANING OF THE SONG
The wind blows the willows "Shua la la la la la," the little river is flowing "Hua la la la la la," Whose daughter-in-law is walking in a hurry? she is going back to her parents' home.
Wears in the bright red clothes, wears a flower on her head, on her face is thick cosmetic... one hand carries a hen, the other carries a duck, carrying a cute baby on her back "Yi ya yi de er wei."
A dark cloud is coming, a wind is flowing, it is raining in the mountain, no a place to go, no a place to hide a heavy rain is dropping on my body "Yi ya yi de er wei".
The red clothes is wet, the flower is down, the cosmetic has changed to be red mud, the hen has flied away, the duck run away, makes my baby crying out "Yi ya yi de er wei".
Ah, How can I go to see my Mom?
