 LISTEN TO SHIRLEY SINGING THE SONG
 This is a very famous Chinese folk song that is from a famous Chinese opera Hong Hu Chi Wei Dui -- The Red Army on the Red Lakethat has told a story that happened in 30's in Red Lake.
This song expresses the happy feeling how the local people liked the red army and how it helped the local people to change their life better when the red army was in the Red Lake Area.
This opera was created in 1958 by Hubei Experiment Opera Group, Mr. Zhang Jinan created this song for the Opera. As soon as it was played first time on Chinese National Day in Beijing, songs in the opera were famous and this is the best famous one.
In 1961, this opera was made to be a movie. Since then,this song has been popular in China. Mr. Zhou Enlai, the former China's premier was just a fan of this song. :-)
1966 to 1976, during the Culture Revolution, with thousands and thousands music works, this song,opera and movie were forbidded to sing and play. Until the tragedy was finished in China, since 1978, they got a new lives. Along with the process of opening and reform, more an more old and new songs were sung in China... :-)
I have been enjoying since I heard it first time, so, tonight, when my teacher asked me to sing, I did not use my music book to read its lyrics. :-)
