Hi,Dear Friends
How are you? Are you enjoying your week? I do hope you are. :-)
It is Friday on my side already; I have not sent you the letter that I should send last weekend yet.
I have been suffering a serious cold since last Sunday night. I felt so bad that I had to miss an afternoon's lessons of Prof./Dr. Lin Ruoxi who is a tutor of doctoral students in CANN.
Anyway, as soon as I could stand up, I kept working and studying.
Since Feb 12, 2012, within the short 20 days, I have sttended 6 professors/artist's lessons for about 10 days, completed 6 new paintings, re-wrote 2 comments on Chinese calssical poems according to the good directions of the publishing house, re-filled the poems into my own music and practiced to play the music and sang the poems in Chinese and in English ok. Every week worked for over 100 hours even though I need painkillers often, sometimes, I was so tired that I have no strength to speak, and I had to have a short rest after I go upstairs a floor.
So, when I felt the extremely cold on my body and the sharp ache on my head, I realized that I had made an old mistake once more -- slept too less and worked too much, I must adjust my own life style once more. I often do that, and I often forget it when I am involves into the work and study... :-)
Maybe you would ask why I had so many lessons in the so short time.
I am major in Chinese flower and bird painting, but, I can go to any classroom to listen to the other lessons on landscape and portrait freely. As a long-term art amateur, you cannot imagine how lucky I feel. With a grateful heart to the school and their good encouragements, I do want to catch every good opportunity that the school has offered for me. Therefore, as soon as there is a new lesson in the other classrooms, I am there to make a record with computer, make a note in my notebook, ask the professors, artists and my classmates in the other classrooms to comment my assignments, and to hear their directions and suggestions.
As the only student who kept working in the flower and birds classroom in the first two weeks, I have gotten so much good help from so many professors, tutors, artists and classmates already.
The biggest benefit that I have gained from these lessons, not only for they have added my painting skills and theory, but also, they have given me so many enlightenments. Even, can you imagine? I have thought some topics that I am interested in studying and researching now and in the future. Such as:
-- The Relationship between Traditional Chinese Arts and Modern Management. :-) -- The Instrumental Attribute of Chinese Traditional Arts and Their Application in the Internet Times. :-)
To be honest, I love art so much. But, I really do not want to limit myself in one field, such as the pure painting, music, literature or management, I really want to use the management knowledge and skills that I have studies in China and in USA, to combine what I have learned, to create something more interesting, meaningful and helpful... If saying the biggest gain in my art learning in the first 8 years as an amateur has helped me find a way to combine Chinese painting, music and poetry together, to create a comprehensive art; the study in the two of the best Chinese art schools -- CAFA and CNAA as a full time student is helping me to think of something more interesting to study or research.
The former is on the applied layer, the latter is on the theory layer.
As I felt in the company before I hospitalized -- no matter what we are doing or we want to do, we must make sure something most important on theory at the first or in the process, otherwise, we would wave when we met difficulties or in hard time.
Now my feeling is: the more study, the more I want to study. :-) So, as long as my health can support, I will continue the study in Beijing for another 1 year.
The unfortunate thing is that my doctor informed me: after twice surgeries, an important healthy index that was 405 times higher than the normal index in August, 2010 has not been changed in the negative level as doctors' expected; my current situation is worse than the situation before my last surgery in August, 2011. The fortunate thing is that there is no any cancer in the system that the index belongs to, even though time has broken through the "cordon line" for most of the people already. :-)
Some good news is that the registered readers on my little web site have reached 7137 during I had the cold. :- ) How about you? Do you have anything special to share?
