The Harmony -- Shirley's 263rd Friendly Greeting, July 19, 2010

Hi,Dear Friends

How are you? Have you had a good weekend?

It has been Monday night on my side already.

Last Thursday, I read some similar news that our parent company -- Shenzhen Stock Exchange Was the World鈥檚 No.1 IPO Market in the first six months of 2010.

Then, Friday morning, I went there to join a meeting. As a manager and artist, I did not only pay more attention to people's views, but also, I observed everyone鈥檚 behaviors. My biggest feeling was "Harmony" about the meeting -- Every one mentioned out his or her opinions with a very positive attitude, all of people were in a harmonious style. Very often, people smiled even laughed on some interesting ideas. Even though something serious, people talked about them in a peaceful style. It was full of the kind and united atmosphere in the meeting room...

After the meeting, instead of going to the art books as usual, I drove back home quickly since I had entrusted my work partner Mr. Charlie Z to buy a couple of new birds for me and he would send them to me soon.

As soon as I entered home, he came in and brought me two very beautiful budgerigars that have deep green backs, bright light green bellies, golden heads, red beaks and black tails. In a hurry and without thought too much, I put them into the birdcage with the other 3 parakeets together.

Oh, my God, just I sent Charlie off, the birds started to fight. Quickly, two of them bleed. Even, the lovely yellow parakeet, the mother bird鈥檚 beak was broken, her tongue was appeared and her leg had a hole鈥�

Quickly, I caught the new budgerigars out and I put them into another birdcage. Meanwhile, I realized that I had made a big mistake and I should not put the two groups of parrots into one birdcage before they knew each other, so that the old ones fought for protecting their home, the new ones fought for getting a room in the new environment鈥�

At almost the same time, I got the title what I should write on the weekend ? Harmony. The bad management of mine was the direct reason of the fighting and the inharmonic of my birds. I did the merger of my birds before thinking of their feelings and making any necessary studying and preparative. There fore the two groups of birds have to live and 鈥淲ork鈥� in the single style. My merger work did not meet my original goal ? to build a bigger and more beautiful home of birds with more beautiful singings and enjoyments. :- )

There are certainly many reasons that Shenzhen Stock Exchange became the No 1 in the world market in the hot competitions after many years鈥� hard working, its team's unprecedented harmony is one of the most important reasons. Behind the harmony is much hard and detail work. Except the normal business and training, just on corporate culture, they have 8 associations on sports, music, literature, language and so on, to help their employees to enhance the communications, understanding and friendship among departments and individuals鈥�

I am thinking that along with the progress of the times and technology, anyone and any organization can not only work in their narrow fields, we will have to find and found more and more cooperation with the other people and organizations from different fields, cultures and background with more and more mergers, combinations or adjusts inside and outside.

Since harmony is the precondition of any organization to create achievement, since a positive communication is the best and only way to start a harmonious cooperation, maybe one of the duties as a manager is to create more communication opportunities among the different groups, people, organizations and cultures, to help our employees, ourselves and our cooperators to adapt to the continuous changing?
