The 16th Friendly Greeting From Shirley, China, Sun, Dec 4, 2005

Hi,Dear Friends
How are you? Is every thing well with you this week? I really hope you are enjoying your weekend with an easy heart and have a relaxed time. : - )
This week, there are several "first times" in my sparetime life.
Firs time, the Chinese words on the web site could be checked once again. You can find a new window when you hit the Chinese words in Shirley’Language and Shirley’s Music when you hit any words that you need help, then you can find the Chinese Pinyin, pronunciation and my record to help you to read them.
First time, I completed a literature story translation.
First time, I created and played my own music with a string music tone with my Yamaha keyboard. It is really wonderful feeling to hear the string music sounds via a keyboard.
The most excited thing is that the government of our city is helping the residents to enter the digital Television system. As an original user of the Community Antenna Television, I got two lines to enter the digital TV net free. I am so happy that my TVs now can see the programs from 75 channels from original 11 ones, include all of the channels in English from Hong Kong. And also I can order many the other programs, to enter the broadcast system and information system and so on. :- ) Anyway, most of time, I just listen to TV while I am painting or reading my art books.
How about you? Do you have much time to watch TV?
Ok, let us see what I have prepared for you this weekend:

Chinese Gong Bi--014 (Flower, Bird & Character): A Happy Flower Family! :-)
Do you know what I was feeling when I painted my new picture of chrysanthemum? I felt that the flowers are alive. They have legs to walk, have mouths to speak, have hands to hand each other. I wanted to express their life power via my lines colors. Meanwhile, when I was painting, I felt that I was communicating with the flowers and birds. I got the feelings of calm, peaceful, delight and enjoyment. My body was tired for the long time painting, my heart was singing with the delight feeling when I was working on the flowers and birds. :-) I do not care for whether I can be a professional artist or note. I more enjoy the creative process. Maybe just the communication with the great nature and the wonderful feeling and enjoyment is just the motivity to support me to paint one by one for a long time? Do you have any similar feeling and experience when you are creating something in your life?

Chinese (Taiwan) Balladry--014: Waipo De Penhuwan --Grandmother's Penhu Bay
Last night, I should record a Chinese art song of a poem ?Snow by Mr. Mao Zedong after I have learned it for a month in my vocal music lessons. However, my throat was pain for a little bit flu and my teacher thought that is a too big song for me still. So, we continued to study how to sing it. Then we reviewed and recorded another Chinese art song from a Chinese opera -- Ms. Jiang that I introduced for you last weekend. Can you imagine? After singing for about 1.5 hours with much sweat and a wet shirt, my throat was not so pain and my flu was gone. It's fun, right?

Chinese in Daily Life -- 005 (Sentence: 039-040):How To Say "Merry Christmas!" In Chinese
I have not seen snow for many years since I left from the university. However, some letters from some friends make me think of snow and a little poem that I recited in my childhood. I enjoy the little poem for it writes a send off feeling with much confidence, encouragement, a very positive and optimistic attitude. So, I created a piece of music for it quickly, maybe for about 30 minutes. Instead of using my piano, first time I accompanied for myself with a string music tone with my electronic Keyboard.

Chinese in Daily Life -- 005 (Sentence: 039-040):How To Say "Merry Christmas!" In Chinese
I have met many friends who are from the other cultures can write in Chinese Pinyin and characters with quite high Chinese level. That gives me an idea to offer an advanced Chinese column for these friends. So, after getting the permission by Mr. Bruce Holland Rogers, I would like to share some snippets of his works with you and offer you the Chinese translation. Let us see whether it is helpful to you to improve your Chinese level and to my English learning. Ok?
