The 6th Frienly Greeting From Shirley, China, On Sun. Oct 2, 2005

Hi,Dear Friends

Oct 1 is Chinese National Day. One of my friends wrote to me and asked why Chinese has a thousands years' histroy, but the national day started from 1949? That is the history of the People's Republic of China, China is the abbreviation of the People's Republic of China.

National holiday is one of the most important Chinese holidays. Most of peopel have a free time for 1 week. We will visit family members, friends; have a travel as turists, take part in some parties, learn something new or just simply stay at home to watch TV and have a rest. :-)

I am lucky that I will have a holiday for 8.5 days. So, I would like to fly to vist my parents in Wuxi City by Tai Lake for 5 days and also to work on my art, music, literature, English learning on the web site...

Before I start my trip tomorrow, I have prepared something new for you and hope you enjoy them:

Chinese Xieyi --048 (Flower & Bird): Hello!
In the past 3 weeks, my painting focused on the green and I wanted to paint my flowers to be green as well. Anyway, in my art lesson, my Chinese art teacher pointed that my green flowers were alive and beautiful, but, they were too bright. So, in stead of using green, I was asked to paint my 48th Chinese Xieyi -- Chinese Freehand Brushworks with blue. Do you enjoy my blue flowers? :-)
Chinese Art Song--002: Zou Jin Xin Shi Dai--Walk Into The New Times
Every times has its representative song. In the past 56 years since the People's Republic of China was found in 1949, it has gone over 3 important times. There are also 3 representative songs in the 3 times as well. They are just : Dong Fang Hong (Orient Red) that relatives to Mr. Mao Zedong; Chun Tian De Gu Shi (Story in the Spring) that relatives to Mr. Deng Xiaoping, and Zou Jin Xin Shi Dai ( Walk Into The New Times) that relatives to the current Chinese leaders. For helping you to know them and also help you to train your ears to hear Chinese, I learned and sang the last one for you and hope you enjoy it. :- )
Chinese Classical Poem--011: Weicheng Qu -- A Farewell Song At Weicheng
In many Chinese farewell parties, you can often hear the poem: Quan4 jun1 geng4 jin4 yi1, bei1 jiu3 , :xi1 chu1 yang2 guan1 wu2 gu4 ren2 that means hope/wish/ please you drink another cup of wine, as soon as you leave from the west of Yang Guan, you will not see an old friend again -- in case you leave from us, we will not easy to have an opportunity to meet once more. For the poem sentences speak out a general feeling of the sending off, so, since it was created out in Tang Dynasty, it got popular soon and its music can be kept until today.

Except the original poem, I have offered the ancient music for you. I do hope you enjoy it and to know how a classical poem to be sung in the ancient times. :-)

This weeks daily Chinese, I have offered you 3 sentences and hope you feel easy to remember them. If you still feel too difficult to learn it, please let me know and I will try to do my best to improve this new section.

Friends--007: Mr.John M.-- My Great American Music Teacher & One of the Best English Teachers
In the past 5 weeks,I have received many good questions, comments from friends. For expressing my appreciation heart and save them into the system in my mine, to improve my work on the web site. I edited this new section and hope you find your name in the list. If you find that your opinions are missed, please let me know and I will add yours in it next time. Ok?

I am just a learner on art, music, literature, English and the work on the web site. I really hope to do a little bit things for making this little web site to be an electronic bridge of culture exchange, friendship and language learning . So, I do hope to get your help, support, and directions on matter on English language, cultures or skills as well.

If you have any questions, comments, advices and suggestions, please write to Shirley@ebridge.cn or shirleyz004@yahoo.com . I will take my computer with me, so, even though in my holiday, you are welcomed still.
