First Productivity--Science & Technology-- Shirley's 83rd Friendly Greeting -- Sun, April 1, 2007

Hi,Dear Friends

How are you? Have you had a good week? I do hope you are well and have a relaxed and easy weekend.

Except daily work, many things have happened in the company, so that I do not know how I should start right now.

On Monday, two groups of work partners came to Shenzhen from Shanghai. I met them and had work meals with them one by one. On the same day, I handed the first researching report with 19000 Chinese words after the Spring Festival in 2007 and got a high comment. My assistants in the project group and me delivered our opinions to the department managers and they have started to perform it now.

Tuesday afternoon, some virus got across the firewall and attacked our net, about 500 PC's stopped to work. Quickly, one of the technology departments found the reason and controlled the virus. The most important part of the net system was recovered in the night. Most of our first hand information was transmitted out via our Television, web sites and newspaper. However, the work to recover all of the computers lasted for over 30 hours, nearly 30 engineers did not sleep for about 36 hours. We could see the technologists run upstairs during the time. The main content of my daily meeting was to strike back the virus those days.

Since Thursday, 2 of our 3 new products in 2007 entered the technology development phase .Both of them will enter the market before May.

Among my work, I tried to find time to read as much as possible. I am reading a book named The Long Tail by Chris Anderson. I was smiling when I was reading something he wrote in the beginning of the book -- The 21 century's economy is just in the servers. Yes, science and technology is just the first productivity to push the society to go forward. It has made whole of the world as a small village, it is also offering us a condition to know each other.

So, I quite respect the people who are working on science and technology. Also I have been working with some engineers since 1993. Before 2000, my department had been keeping 36% engineers. Right now, there is a quite high percent of technologists in the current company. The finished researching report is just completed by some engineers and me together. Sometime, I am smiling for my work experience. As a woman who was major literature, language, economy and administration, most of time, I was/am working with engineers together. I have been used this kind of work circumstance already. I often feel it is a comfortable process to work with them together for they are the ones hardworking with a down to earth attitude very well.

What is your thought about science and technology? What are your opinions about scientists and technologists? Do you agree with me?

I am just a learner on art, music, English, French and the work on the web site in my free time. Anyway, I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship and Language Learning. During the process to help the others and to improve myself.

I do appreciate your understanding, directions and supports. I do hope to get your great help continuously now and in the coming time...
