English Vs. Chinese (Translation) 004: Bruce Holland Rogers 锛圫nippet)

Hi, friends, I translated Mr. Bruce Holland Rogers' new short novel -- Bruce Holland Rogers last week, but, instead of publishing it online last weekend, I hid it in my database for a while as I deal with my painting and music, then I read/see them once more to find whether there is anything that needs to be corrected鈥�

This short story has a same title as its author. Anyway, it is a fictitious one. I enjoy its imagination and something behind of the words. So, I started to translate it as soon as I read it. Now I have translated whole of the novel and I would like to publish a snippet here and hope you enjoy it... :-)

Instead of offering explaining the new words, I just offer the Chinese translation and Chinese pinyin in this column and hope it is a little bit help to improve your quick reading ability in Chinese. :-) Maybe, you can guess the meaning of a sentence via context sometimes... :-)

In the dark before dawn I carried a notebook and a mug into the living room.   I was in the habit of beginning my day on the couch, making notes, sipping coffee, waking up a little at a time.   

This morning, though, a silhouette already occupied the couch.   Had someone broken in?   A burglar who needed a nap?   Or was this a houseguest I had forgotten?   No, I remembered that my wife and I had stayed up late last night, working at our computer screens. Just the two of us.   

"Who?" I said. I felt for the light.   "Who's there?"
