Remarks: This is my 798th painting since 2003and the 435th Chinese Xieyi Painting, the 193rd assignment that I have completed in Chinese National Academy of Arts .
This is the 15th painting that I painted for the series stories and my long scroll《二十四孝》: Er Shi Si Xiao Tu -- The Twenty-Four Dutiful Children .
This story names 曾参啮指痛心:Zheng Shen Felt His Heart Pain When His Mother Bit Her Finger.
Zeng Shen was from Lu ( in today’s Shandong Province ) in the Spring and Autumn Period (770B. C. - 476 B. C.) He was one of the best students of Confucius, and be called Zeng Zi. He was famous for his filial piety.
When he was young, his family was very poor, so, he had to go to the mountain to gather firewood often.
One day, some guests went to his house, his mother did not know what to do, so that she bit one of her fingers. Suddenly Zeng Sheng felt his heart pain in the mountain, knew it was his mother calling him, so, he quickly carried his firewood and run back home, to ask the reasons. His mother said, suddenly we had guests, I bit my finger and looked for you back.
Then Zhen Sheng treated their gusts with due respect.
Zeng Shen was erudite and he mentioned out the culture method of “吾日三省吾身:为人谋而不忠乎?与朋友交而不信乎?传不习乎?-- Every day, I examine myself on three points: Whether, in transacting business for others, I may have been not faithful? Whether, in intercourse with friends, I may have been not sincere? Whether may have not mastered and practiced what my teacher had taught? " It was said that he wrote some Confucianism classics Da Xue and Xiao Jing.
I painted this painting with mushc respect and hope you like it.
How do you think of this painting and this story? Do you enjoy them?
