Artist: Shirley Zhang |
Size: 77cm x 150cm ( 30.31inches x 19.68inches) |
Completed Time: July 5-6,2012 |
Remarks: This is my 396th Chinese Xieyi Painting and my 722nd painting since 2003, the 113rd assignment in Chinese National Academy of Arts.
This is the first time, I learned to paint a squirrel.
In 2010, I got a letter from an American professor who is an expert on the grape, he asked me that whether I could paint a painting of grape for his lab and also he sent some photos of the grape as the samples.
I said Yes.
But, I had not been in the emotion to paint it until May 27, 2012 in Beijing, I met him in the Hall of Jianguo Hotel Beijing occasionally -- I did not know that he was in a delegation to come to Beijing at all. With so many apologies I said that I still "Owe" you a painting of grape.
Anyway, this week, I am really in the emotion to paint grape, but I would like to paint it with some little squirrels since they were something that had brought me the first smile on the second day I was in USA.
After reading much data and more than 150 photos of squirrels, I complete the painting below, but, I did not satisfy it, so, I painted the new one over.
How do you think of the two paintings? Which one is better in your opinions?
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, welcome to write to shirley@ebridge.cn or shirleyz004@yahoo.com ,you can also publish your opinions on Message Board . :-)
