Remarks: This is my 369th Chinese Xieyi Painting and my 688 painting since 2003, the 60th assignment in Chinese National Academy of Arts.
Rooster is one of the mascots in Chinese culture. Because it has 5 good virtues:
紊岩鐚緇件莇喝莊醇鐚罩緇件∽種緇件蕋弱膠誌篁緇件絎紊筝紊掩駈紊ユ鐚篆≦招 -- There is a coronal on its head, it is the gentle virtue; there is the calcars on its feet, can fight, it is the valiant virtue; it can fight when it meets an enemy, it is the brave virtue; there is food, then to call the other ones, it is the kind virtue; when it is night watching, never miss the time and always crows at dawn, it is the credible virtues. "
Therefore, in the folk, people see the rooster as the mascot that can bring us luck and happiness.
Plus the pronunciations of Rooster and Luck are same -- Ji, therefore, the painting of rooster has been a very good gift in the festivals and important time in China.
I painted this paining after I came back from Shenzhen, I did not think that I have found the feeling yet. Therefore I went to the nature to paint the peach blossoms every day, I will re-paint it soon, according to my new feelings about the peach blossoms. :-)
