This is my 43rd Combined Paintingthat I created for Chinese Classical Poetry, andmy 531 painting since 2003.Also, it is the 62nd(89th) painting (practice) that I have done in 2010.
A question from an American friend -- What is the characteristic of Jiangnan Culture reminded me think of my third hometown in Jiangnan.
The first idea that jumped into my mind is the Word "a region of rivers and lakes". Plus the time was just near the vacation of the Chinese National Holiday, a light homesickness feeling and a lot of warm recalling came into my heart.
Since my health does not support me to go back my third hometown to visit my father and my family members in Jiangnan or fly to Australia to see my son in the vacation as my had planned, I would like to create a painting to express my feeling. :-)
Instead of expressing my feelings with birds and flowers as usual, I chose the landscape of Jiangnan, mainly with the houses, the villages and the mountains and the water... Can you imagine? During the painting process, the more I am painting these, the more I loved to paint them...
I am so happy that I feel that I have suddenly found a new way to express the same feelings that I had learned by birds and flowers. I do feel that the houses and the villages can express something relates to Human Being more than a bird and a flower... :-)
With this idea, I wrote the poem below on my painting and I do hope you enjoy it: MAIN MEANING OF THE POEM:
The mountains are green, the water is blue. The fall ends in Jiangnan, the grass is not yellow. Twenty-four bridge, Bright moonlight, Where are you teaching people blowing flute?
