Title: Chinese Xieyi--081(Flower & Bird): Not Title |
Artist: Shirley Zhang |
Size: 45cm x 67cm |
Completed Time: Wed, June, 21, 2006 |
Remarks: This is my 81st Chinese Xieyi -- Freehand Brushworks that I created in my art lesson. My teacher required me to continue to do the practice of peony painting with Xieyi style -- I was not allowed to make any draft with pencil as I do on Chinese Gongbi and Gouache before my painting, just painted with brushes and colors directly.
My original thought is to give my flowers a background of some little pavilions or tower on the tall mountains... my teacher did not think that was a good idea, so, I painted it as now. Anyway, I painted some birds flying out from the mountains... I always want to do something unique, so that my Chinese art teacher thought that to offer a lesson to Shirley is just a good creative process. :-) So that he rather than makes less money on Wed evening -- to offer one student for 2 to 3 hours, instead of to offer two students for 4 hours as usual.
This time, I did pay more attention to make the colors are harmonious on the flowers. But, for the colors on my brushes were too wet, so that they connect together and made the flowers seem like too round… :-) Also the colors on the far away mountain were to light, so that you can not see them clear when the colors are drying. :-)
However, my teacher thought that my blue flower by the stone is better.
Even though I do not think it is a good picture, anyway, I keep it here as a lesson to remember. :-)
How do you think of this picture? Do you enjoy my idea ?
