Title: Chinese Xieyi--096(Flower & Bird): Eagle |
Artist: Shirley Zhang |
Size: 70cm x 70cm |
Completed Time: Wednesday, September 13, 2006 |
Remarks:
This is my 96th Chinese Xieyi painting in my art lesson Wednesday evening. Also, this is my first eagle painting.
My teacher just gave me 60 Marks for its head is too big, its neck is too short, its back is too narrow and the flower is too thin... Oh, there are so many problems on it. Anyway, its foot is good, its eyes and mouth is cool... :-) This week, I did not create my music until Saturday night. But, I painted as much as possible.
I am trying to create my picture with a new ways -- Chinese Gongbi and Xieyi. I mean to paint a picture with the two kinds of painting ways on one picture.
But it is not easy to try, for I use a piece of paper that is for Chinese Xieyi picture, to use its soaking quality to paint my bird, but, it is difficult to color the flowers with a Chinese Gongbi style for it needs another kind of paper that does not soak.
So, it is not easy to find the balance point on the paper that is made for one kind of picture. :-) Anyway, I am trying. I enjoy the way to paint a bird with a more free way. I do not want to make a pencil draft, then to color it in the pencil line as a Chinese Gongbi picture. :-) I do think that is limiting my thought and hands. :-) Here are 2 pictures of the 3 ones that I have tried this week and hope to hear your comments:

Also, I have painted a Chinese Baimiao -- it is the second step of a Chinese Gongbi. Also, it is a single art way:
My Chinese Baimiao No. 31
Here is it and I will color it next week. Then, it will be changed to be a Chinese Gongbi painting.
