April 5 is the traditional Chinese Qing Ming Festival (Tomb-sweeping Day). It is the time to honor dead ancestors, family members, lovers, and friends of a family, it is also the time to commemorate the great people of an organizations and the country. So, there are many family's and country's commemorations on the day. There are also many art works of literature, music and painting to express the nostalgia, missing or respect hearts to those people who have gone...
The poem Qing Ming by Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu is one of the most famous poems. So, I had created a piece of music for the poem in April 8, 2007, while I translated it into English and introduced and sang it first time in Chinese. Then I created a picture to match it April 5, 2008.
Today, April 5, 2010, I have re-translated it and I have re-written my music and re-played it and sang is in Chinese and in English. I do not satisfy my singing yet. But, I cannot work on it for too long time for my eyes cannot see clear, not only the words on the computer, but also what I have written on the sheet. Just hope it is a little bit help to you to know more about Chinese culture.
MAIN MEANING of the POEM
During the Tomb-Sweeping Day, It rains often, on the roads pedestrian s 'hearts would be broken. May I ask where any pub is? A herd boy points a village in the apricot flowers.
