Remarks: This is my 787th painting since 2003and the 428th Chinese Xieyi Painting, the 182nd assignment that I have completed in Chinese National Academy of Arts .
This is the 6th painting of the series stories 《二十四孝》: Er Shi Si Xiao Tu -- The Twenty-Four Dutiful Children .
This story names 吴猛恣蚊饱血: Wu Meng Zi Wen Bao Xue - Wu Meng Allowed the Mosquitoes Bit Himself and Drank His Own Blood, then why?
Wu Meng was lived in Puyang (Today's Puyang City, Henan Province), the Jin Dynasty (265-420). When he was just 8 years old, he treated his parents quite well.
His family was very poor, so that there was no any bed-curtain (mosquito net) at all. Therefore, every summer night, when Wu Meng slept, always he allowed the mosquitoes to hit his own skin. Even though the mosquitoes collect together were more and more. He did never drive them away. Because he was afraid of the mosquitoes would leave from his body and to hit his father...
With so much respect to the young boy, I painted this painting.
I really hope that my effort will be some help with you to learn Chinese culture and art.
