Artist: Shirley Yiping Zhang |
Size: 60cm x 600 cm ( 23.62inches x 236.22 inches) Chinese Ink on Thin Silk |
Completed Time: August 8, 2014 |
Remarks: This is my 909 Painting since 2003 and my 55thChinese Bai Mao, also, the 9th Painting since I completed the study in Chinese National Academy of Arts July 15, 2014.
This is the second time I painted this painting. First time I painted it in China Central Academy of Fine Arts, May to June in 2011.
Then I started it with the size double more than the first one in Chinese National Academy of Arts July, 2012 and completed it at home in Shenzhen July 14 to August 8, 2014.
I did not make sure how long I had painted every, but just I worked on it for 15 or 18 hours each day. Many times, when I started to work, it was dark out of the window and when I finished it, it was dark again, but I did enjoy the process to use the especial lines of Chinese paintings to express the object with only white and black.
Until Friday, when I sent it to be decorated in an art company and the lady boss of the company told me it is longer than 600 cm (236 inches).
At that time, a Chinese idiom jumped into my mind: 只问耕耘,不问收获 -Zhi Wen Geng Yun, Bu Wen Shou Huo - Don't care about the result, just do it. I am thinking, many things we do not know the result, then as long as we think it is meaningful and helpful, try to do it; as long as we can keep completing it, instead of giving up halfway, we will certainly get a good result.
Do you agree with me?
