Remarks: This is my 794th painting since 2003and the 432nd Chinese Xieyi Painting, the 189th assignment that I have completed in Chinese National Academy of Arts .
This is the 12nd painting that I painted for the series stories and my long scroll《二十四孝》: Er Shi Si Xiao Tu -- The Twenty-Four Dutiful Children .
This story names:郭巨埋儿奉母 Guo Ju Mai Er Feng Mu -- Guo Jun Buried His Son, to Support and Wait upon His Mother.
Guo Jun Lived in Longlv (in today's He Nan Province) in Han Dynasty(206 B.C.- A.D. 220).
Original, his family was rich. After his father passed away, he divided the family property into two parts and gave them to his two younger brothers, he itself supported and waited upon his mother only.
Later, his wife gave birth to a son. When the son was 3 years old, his family changed poor, so that his mother often reduced her own food to give it to her grandson. Guo Ju said to his wife: "We are so poor that we can not support our mother, while the son has a part of the food of mother. Why not we burry the son? Son can be had again, but mother cannot have again." His wife did not dare to disobey.
Then Guo Jun dug a hole, when he dug until about 1 meter, suddenly he found a kettle of gold and there were some words on it: "The God grants the gold to Guo Ju, the local authorities cannot get it and the common people cannot take by force." Both of the husband and wife took the gold back home to support and wait for their mother while to raise their son.
With so much moved, I painted this painting and hope you enjoy it.
