Title: Chinese Xieyi--099(Flower & Bird): Flying Snow Is Welcoming Spring... |
Artist: Shirley Zhang |
Size: 70cm x 70cm |
Completed Time: Wednesday, Oct 4, 2006 |
Remarks: This is my 99th Chinese Xieyi-- Freehand Brushworks that I created in my art lesson Wednesday night.
I came back home from my trip at about 1:30am Wednesday morning, after a long long sleep, I felt better and I had a later lesson at 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
I wanted to paint landscape for my mind was full of the mountains and water. But, my teacher's plan was to paint snow. Ha, snow, I have not seen any snow for over 20 years since I came to Wuxi City by Tai Lake, near Shanghai, then to come to Shenzhen that is next to Hong Kong after I graduated from university. So, I was also happy to pain snow. Anyway, I still wanted to have birds in it. :-)
I was happy to learn a new way to paint ? I colored the sky and the stone on the reverse of the paper, I beat the pole of my brusher with white color to make the flying snow... For "encouraging" my teacher’s responsible work, I sent him a picture that was made by sand and stone as a collection. Can you imagine? My teacher thought that is a gift impayable for it is by handwork and there is no another one same in the world, it is a new style to create a traditional Chinese picture. Along with the time, its worth will be raise up certainly. :-)
Do you know how many marks my new picture got? My teacher said 75 to 80. Then, I said, Ok, just be 80 mark. Ok? :-)
How do you see my new picture, do you enjoy it? Do you think that I should get 75 or 80 Mark?
