Title: Chinese Xieyi--089(Flower & Bird): Plum Blossom & Little Birds |
Artist: Shirley Zhang |
Size: 45cm x 67cm |
Completed Time: Wed, July 26, 2006 |
Remarks: This is my 89th Chinese Xieyi -- Freehand Brushworks painting that I created in my art lesson on Wednesday evening.
I am continuing to learn to paint plum blossom and my teacher thought that is a good picture and asked me to keep it well. Even though I felt that my bird on the right seems like there is some problem on his/her wing ? then I could not correct it for a Chinese Xieyi painting asks the painter can only paint once with his/her brushes, does not allow to draft with pencil at the first, does not allow to correct, my teacher said, the most important to learn to paint a Chinese Xieyi painting is to think of its composition of a picture, to make it’s meaning is ok, as soon as people know that is a bird, that is ok. So, I should not pay more attention to the details. In Chinese painting theory, to pursue a bird or something else that I am painting to be alike in spirit is the more important.
