Title: Chinese Xieyi -- 075(Flower & Bird): A Harvest Season |
Artist: Shirley Zhang |
Size: 70cm x 70cm |
Completed Time: Wed, May 3, 2006 |
Remarks: This is my 75th Xieyi(Freehand Brushworks) Painting in my May Day holiday -- a long time China's national holiday.
Ha, after learning to paint flower and bird painting -- a traditional Chinese Painting for 3 years, first time, I started to learn to paint a landscape with Chinese Xieyi style. Now, I just know why my teacher taught me to paint stone times and times :-) It is just the foundation to paint a landscape. :-) Just for the tree years'learning and practice, when my teacher asked me to paint a mountain, I did not feel too difficult as I had felt when I first time to paint a flower, a bird, or a stone with a colored brush directly -- I mean without a draft with a pencil, but paint on the paper directly... :-)
Anyway, during I painted it in my lesson, I forgot to paint the red leaves on the mountains, so I had to added it after the colors were dry after my lesson so that I had to add something on the trees by the houses for making the colors looked harmonious... but, it sounds like I have made the trees' feature to be changed too much, it sounds like a little bit not natural... :-)
How do you think of this picture? Do you enjoy it?
