Remarks: This is my 18th Chinese Gongbi Picture, I drafted it 3 weeks ago and completed it tonight. This is the first time that I painted a picture on a piece of silk, its cost is about 14 times higher than a piece of special Chinese Gongbi picture paper, that is why, I painted it very carefully and I have worked on it for over 80 hours. Tonight, after I have worked for 15 hours, when I was preparing to do my last work -- to color a background for my picture as usual. I thought of most of traditional Chinese Gongbi painting did not offer a background. When I started to learn to paint a Chinese picture, I had really thought that is something that Chinese Gongbi painting should be innovated. Anyway, I also thought, since in the thousand years, artists did not color the background for their picture. It certainly had its own reason. So, I would like to take a photo for my picture before I colored it. :-)
However, when I put my picture on my easel ? usually I just paint Gouaches on it and I paint Chinese picture on the desk for its color is just like water, I suddenly found that has a very special feeling. The shine of the silk makes the picture is very different from it is on a piece of paper. I did feel another kind of beautiful. :-) Wow! Now I have known a little bit reason why most of traditional Chinese Gongbi pictures did not color a background. :- )
So, I decided to leave it on the white background for a while. Maybe next weekend, you will see it has some background color? Maybe I will paint another same picture and give it a background? Then to compare with them and to see what is the best way to deal with a picture. Anyway, right now, I have not thought ok yet.
Also, even though I completed a background, I have not really completed it yet, because it has to be attached on some hard paper or broad.
I completed this picture alone. I have not known what my art teacher's comments it. Do you enjoy this picture? Do you like a picture there is no a background colors? |
